"The child may not remember. But the body remembers."
Join Free Arts for a night of resilience, conversation, and popcorn. We will be screening the film Resilience: The Biology of Stress and the Science of Hope while enjoying some snacks and beverages* followed by some facilitated and open discussion.
About the film: Researchers have recently discovered a dangerous biological syndrome caused by abuse and neglect during childhood known as "Toxic Stress". As the new documentary Resilience reveals, Toxic Stress can trigger hormones that wreak havoc on the brains and bodies of children, putting them at a greater risk for disease, homelessness, prison time and early death.
Resilience is the ability to thrive, adapt and cope despite tough and stressful times. Resilience is a natural counter-weight to Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and is the movement determined to fight back.
